We’re excited to announce the launch of a new study on a hot topic in the world of database management, software development and network performance management: Application Performance Management. The goal is to gain a deep understanding of how companies today are utilizing application performance monitoring tools to identify database problems and resource bottlenecks as well as to pinpoint defective or inefficient code. In most cases, the goal is to speed the development of new applications as well as optimize the performance of existing applications.

Using Technology to Enhance the Guest Experience

The only thing that is constant is change, noted the ancient Greek scholar Heraclitus, and that is especially true in hospitality. The frontier on guest experiences is continuously advancing and the bar on guest expectations is always rising. An in-room amenity that in the past may have been something worth writing home about — “There’s a coffee maker right in the room!” “The bathroom has a hairdryer!” — quickly recedes in the rearview mirror. Any “surprise and delight” factor is generally short-lived. Sometimes the actual amenity disappears, as is the case of the Magic Fingers Vibrating Bed, a common feature in mid-priced hotels in the 1960s. Hoteliers must continuously scramble to stay ahead of the competition. They must always be on the lookout for the next big thing to further enhance the guest experience.
Starfleet Research: Soft Launch

Starfleet Media is delighted to announce the soft launch of this new website for Starfleet Research, which is our IT market research arm. The website, which is still in development and officially launches in Q1 2016, is designed to showcase the latest Smart Decision Guides and co-branded eBooks as well as content assets in two new categories: Benchmark Reports (best practices market research, to help decision makers understand how top-performing companies are achieving their desired business objectives with specific technology-enabled business initiatives) and Actionable Insights Reports (which bring together the best in third-party thought leadership).
